Proofing

Once we have a digital file of your image we print tests and make colour adjustments until we achieve the desired result. Where practical we like to have the customer present while adjustments are made, but we often go through this process by post, sending test prints back and forth.

When the test print is to the customer's liking we produce a proof at the desired print size. We always proof on the media to be used for final printing, so what you see at the proof stage is exactly what you will get.

Even if we are printing straight from a digital file we will produce what we consider to be a good-looking print, but issues of colour are notoriously subjective. In colour-critical applications it is likely that fine-tuning will be required. We suggest that you examine proofs in natural light or under daylight bulbs – lighting has a huge impact on colour perception.

We strongly advise you not to omit proofing, and cannot accept liability for colour mis-matches if you decide to skip this stage.
